The crisis, such as it is, is a crisis in the external institutional relations of science. It is a crisis in the external technological, economic and political relations of science-not in its external intellectual relations. It is also a crisis of the wider institutional setting of science, that is, of the institutional arrangements which mediate between scientific work and the society external to it. The economic crisis of science The external relations of science which have been criticized in the recent wave of anti-science are economic, technological, political and organizational.
