As described above, the three Subang villages were chosen in Methodological Issues 33 part because of the availabihty of data from previous surveys. It was hoped that comparison of these data with results from the present survey would provide information on patterns of social differentiation and accumulation. Although this was possible to some extent, the mobility of capital and labour beyond the boundaries of the village limits our ability to draw conclusions based on a comparison of two points in time.
